I remember in elementary school we had to write a book of alliterations, and for some reason, A always makes me think:
Alligators ate apples angrily.
Super original, I know.
But today, A is for two sweethearts in an art gallery (not an alliteration, I know).
It’s April, so you know what that means… IT’S FINALLY OUR WEDDING MONTH.
So, to honor that, I think it’s about time I shared our proposal story.
Something about playing laser tag just really brings out my love for the show “How I Met Your Mother.” It also brings out my competitive side.
Every day with Gary is a “G” date… get it? Because Gary starts with a G?
But game night is a real date night and a classic. Gary and I attend game nights frequently, and they are almost always a good time (depending on how competitive we get).
What I love about game nights is that there are so many options and it keeps us from sitting on our phones the whole time. Plus, it’s a good way to get people together.
I think everyone has a favorite app… the one they always make excuses not to delete. For me, it’s Pinterest. I love that I can find recipes, cleaning solutions, hair masks, and other inspirations quickly. But when it came to planning my wedding… all that inspiration felt toxic to me.
When you’re engaged, it feels like there are a million things to get done. And, once you get one thing done, it leads to another, and another, and then another. Take invitations, for example:
you get your pictures taken,
you create or find a design,
you get the cards printed after finding an affordable price,
you address them,
you buy the stamps,
and then, finally, you send them.
So, when it was time to finally address our invitations, I grabbed Gar and decided to make a night of it.
Being engaged comes with a range of emotions. Some days I am so excited and other days I am incredibly stressed. These emotions come with the position and they are expected from brides. For the most part, I do a decent job of holding myself together–but every time I hear one of these things–I start to snap.
P is for a lot of things:
And since we couldn’t decide on one, we did all of them.
I bet you thought you’d see A before X. What can I say, we’re rebels.
And if you don’t consider XC (cross-country) skiing an “x-date” then cut us some slack.
